One of the good things about a hot summer is that the pests are not as abundant. I have not seen any fleas or ticks since April. There are a lot of mosquitoes, but I am waging war on them. They discovered West Nile Virus just a few miles away. So I’ve checked the yard and dumped out every bit of standing water that I could find.

Some days get a little crazy. Chasing kids around the house, running errands and earning a living can really wipe you out. So this prayer helps me on those days.

The kids are going to have to go back to the dentist next week. It was hard to get an appointment – they have “summer hours” which means closed early every day and also closed on Fridays. So I called ahead and got the appointments scheduled. Now they just have to start brushing a little better to get ready for the visit.

One of my good friends from back in school got married to Carl Crossman right out of school instead of going to college like the rest of us. He is a really good guy. I know a lot of girls don’t really like the men that their girlfriends choose to date or marry. But I think she got lucky and found one of the few good men out there. She’s not only lucky, but smart enough to know it – that’s why she married him!

We bought a plastic inflatable pool at K-Mart today. It was under $30 and I figure we will get a lot of use out of it, so it will be worth every penny. In fact, we have already filled it with water and splashed around in it today!
I decided to set it in the back yard and put it far enough from the house so that I can look out the windows in the back and see if anyone is in it. Of course, the kids are not allowed in it unless I am out there with them. But I feel better being able to see it from a window, just in case.
