Fridays are my most favorite day of the week. It is the end of the work week and all those pesky appointments and things that you have to do during normal business hours. Then the weekend starts. If you have to go to school or to work on Friday, your weekend starts as soon as you get out of school or off work for the day. If you get to stay at home on Fridays, then you get even that much more weekend!

The election results are in and a lot of people or very surprised and many are diappointed. But overall, there was a lot of celebrating last night. America has elected Barack Obama with his promise of change and new hope. That is a big task and I think if anyone can do it, Obama can. He seems to be a stand up guy and I doubt there will be any problems of infidelity or womanizing while he is in office. I am glad he married wisely and has a lovely family. I hope he stays grounded and can accomplish all the great things he has planned for our Country.

Tonight is probably my kids favorite holiday, second only to Christmas. The excitement around here has been building every day this week.

Each of the kids was allowed to take their costume to school for parties and parades. I went to the youngest one’s class to help as a room mother. I baked 3 dozen cupcakes last night and decorated them with orange frosting on top and then drew spooky faces with the black icing pen. They were so cute! The kids ate them up and the ones that were left over I took around to share with the teachers and adults that don’t have a class room, like the music teacher and the librarians.
We’ll be taking the kids out around 5:30 - it should be dark by then and they are anxious to start their trick or treating.

The local Halloween store is having a big sale trying to get rid of all their stuff since Halloween is this Friday. So I stopped by to look around and ended up buying a few odds and ends. I tried on a few costumes, but to be honest I though they were so shabby and cheaply made that I wa snot comfotable buying any of them. Plus the price tags for this really cheap crap that MIGHT last the night without tearing was ridiculous. I just cannot pay $50 for a couple pieces of cheap nylon material barely stitched and not cut to fit. Trust me, in today’s world, “one size” does NOT fit all.
I ended up buying a black pirate’s hat and some cheap decorations. So I’ll try to find a pirate’s shirt and maybe some new boots and I’ll make up my own pirate’s costume this year.

Everyone is going to get dressed up this year for Halloween. I can’t make up my mind what I want to dress up as. I like being funny but maybe this time I’ll go for scary. Last year I went out as a phantom hockey player. That was easy since I have a bunch of hockey gear anyways. I’m thinking aobut buying some scrubs and dripping red paint to look like blood and going as Dr. Death or something like that. What do you think?
