Kelly Clarkson Rocks It

Love the voice of Kelly Clarkson. I can’t believe how long it has been since she was on that TV show and became the first winner. Her career has been good, but lately it seems that she has faded from the spotlight. It was great to see her on Saturday Night Live the other night. I hope she puts out another album soon – she has a great voice and I hope she enjoys a long career. The music business is so competitive and sometimes I wonder if the talent has as much to do with it as being pretty, having big boobs and staying thin – especially for the girls. If you think about it, Adele is about the only fat chick who is singing and making money. That’s a shame. You shouldn’t have to be skinny to cut a record. And Kelly is chubby – she must be working hard to keep the weight off – you can just look at her and see a fat chick deep inside trying to take over her body.

Redbox Price Hike

The attractive thing about Redbox for me is the price. I liked the idea of spending only one dollar for a movie for 24 hours. But let’s face it, that one dollar is for really only one viewing. How many people put a movie in the dvd player and watch it over and over again in a 24 hour period? You watch it once and then turn off the dvd player and go to bed. Then the next day you are busy and don’t want to spend 2 hours watching a movie you’ve already seen.  So you are paying one dollar for watching a movie once. That’s a bargain, even if you only watch it once.

But now the price has gone up. I’m not sure why their expenses would have increased so much that a big price hike is justified. Maybe they need more competition so they have to keep the prices low. If you are the only movie rental place in town, you don’t have much incentive to keep the price at a dollar. You can pretty much charge anything you want. But if the price goes up again, I’ll sign up for Netflix and not go to Redbox anymore. So watch your greed, Redbox. you might be the only movie rental place in town, but I do have options.

Meet Me for Brunch?

So many of our holidays and celebrations are centered around food. As much as I love Christmas dinner, I think I really appreciate a New Year’s Day brunch even more. This is the day when I wake up slowly, move slowly and can’t imagine cooking breakfast. So I get dressed and head over to the Sheraton for their fabulous brunch.

Last year I shared brunch with the guy I was dating but that’s not happening this year. This year I’m going alone unless someone wants to meet me there. I’m taking a book with me in case I don’t see anyone there worth talking to. But being single is not going to change my New Year’s Day traditional of an omelet made to order, a full fruit and salad bar, a selection of fresh pastries and a bottomless cup of hot coffee.

New Hairstyle and Ready to Go

Today i had the thought that it would be fun to start the new year off with a new hairstyle. I went to the Great Clips shop to see if my stylist was working, and found out that she doesn’t work there any more. That was a bitter disappointment. Of course, they won’t tell me where she went or why she left.

There was another lady working there who I recognized and she asked if she could have a try with my hair. Since I was already down there and wanted to get it cut, I agreed.

Turns out that she did a great job! she listened to what I said I wanted and she did it exactly like I wanted. I can’t wait to show off my new hairstyle at work and I will certainly go back in 6 weeks for a trim.
